🚨 Tropical Depression “Verbena” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), and Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over several provinces as of the 2:00 AM bulletin issued Tuesday, November 25, 2025, by DOST-PAGASA.
During the early morning press briefing, Weather Specialist Chenel Dominguez confirmed that Verbena is currently a tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 90 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 25 km/h.
📍 Areas Under TCWS No. 1
As announced in the briefing, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is now in effect over the following areas:
- Occidental Mindoro
- Oriental Mindoro
- Romblon
- Palawan (including northern portions)
- Eastern Samar
- Surigao del Norte
- Siargao Islands
- Northern portion of Agusan del Norte
- Misamis Oriental
- Lanao del Norte
- Northern portion of Zamboanga del Norte
Residents in these areas should expect strong winds and moderate to heavy rains within the next 36 hours.
🌧️ Heavy Rainfall Warning
PAGASA forecasts 100 to 200 millimeters of rain over the eastern sections of the country, including parts of Aurora and adjacent provinces. Metro Manila and nearby regions may also experience significant rainfall, though not directly from Verbena’s core—rather from its enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).
This amount of rain poses a high risk of flash floods and rain-induced landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
⚠️ Intensification Expected
According to Dominguez, Verbena is likely to intensify into a tropical storm before it makes landfall in northern Palawan. The agency urged local government units and residents to prepare immediately for worsening conditions.
